Directorate of Extension Services (DES) |
Directorate of Extension Services was started in August 2008 with the inception
of the university. Directorate has a key role in dissemination of latest technologies
in the field of crop production, crop improvement, cropping system, nutrient management,
plant protection, horticultural crops management, agro-forestry, wasteland management,
watershed management, medicinal and aromatic plants, cattle and poultry management,
agricultural machinery, post harvest technology, value addition and natural resource
management. The technologies emanating from research programmes of Rajmata Vijayaraje
Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and other leading agricultural institutions of the
country and abroad for the welfare of farming community are being popularized through
trained extension scientists to minimize the existing technological gaps for enhancing
productivity, profitability and sustainability of agricultural production systems
and living standard of rural people.

Mission |
Directorate of Extension Services is committed to serve farmers through well - organized
network of KVKs covering six agro climatic zones of the State. The directorate has
been engaged in transfer of agricultural and allied technologies for the farmers
by adopting various direct, indirect and participatory extension approaches through
KVKs. The motto of the university is to reach the unreached through efficient extension
system in Madhya Pradesh. |
Role of Directorate of Extension |
- Assessment, refinement and transfer of agricultural technologies through KVK network.
- Providing feedback to the research system.
- Up gradation of knowledge and skills of field extension functionaries and farmers.
- Dissemination of technologies through print and electronic media.
- Catering needs of farming community through single window system.
- Establishing linkages and convergence with line departments.
- Regular monitoring and review of KVK activities and technological backstopping of
KVK scientists and helping them in formulating action plan as per the thrust of
the district.

Human Resources Development |
Human Resource Development (HRD) has played key role in the progress of agriculture.
The University has given high priority to HRD activities with training and communication
support to the state department of agriculture and allied sectors viz.; horticulture,
fisheries, animal science etc. and non - government organizations for proper execution
of extension programmes. |
Joint Diagnostic Team |
The joint diagnostic team has been constituted with scientists and officials of
various development departments. The team visit the farmer's field and render farm
advisory services and remedial measures for field problems. |
Women Empowerment |
Directorate of Extension has been working on various issues related to women empowerment.
The focus areas are; drudgery reduction, upgradation of knowledge and skills of
farmwomen and school dropout girls for employment and income generation for farmwomen
and school dropout girls. Women empowerment cell organizes training programmes,
demonstrations and sangosthies on regular basis.

Kisan Melas and Kisan Sangosthies |
Organization of Kisan Mela and Krishak Sangoshti is the regular activity of Krishi
Vigyan Kendras to enable the farmers, farmwomen and rural youths with latest agricultural
technologies. The special features of these Kisan Melas are; farmer - scientist
interaction through Krishak Sangoshti, display of latest technologies, providing
quality seed and planting material etc. which has direct impact on farming community. |
Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting |
Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings are being organized twice in a year
to review the action plan, progress, field and administrative problems of KVKs.
The SAC has been constituted formally under the chairmanship of Head of Institution
and members from all departments working in agriculture and allied areas, progressive
farmers, representative of Prasar Bharti through Doordharshan and all India Radio
and NGOs working in the district. The SAC is mandated to finalize action plan on
regular basis.

Future Plans: |
Agricultural Museum: A cutting edge display
of modern agricultural technologies, rich history and heritage of the University
will be displayed in the educational museum being established at university headquarters
under Directorate of Extension Services.
Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC):
Establishment of ATIC has been envisaged in the premises of RVSKVV, Gwalior to cater
the need of farming community in terms of technological information, products offered
for sale and services by the university through single window system.
Information and Printing Centre: Establishment of Information
and Printing center has been envisaged in the premises of RVSKVV Gwalior. It shall
publish scientific and other publications of the university as per need.
Community Radio Station: The University is in process
of establishing a community radio station to serve the farmers and local community.
- The perspective plan for extension services is to follow a new strategy for e-connectivity
and cyber extension to drive full advantage of the available human & material
resources.
- Launching of computer KIOSKS (Touch screen computerized information system) is the
new vision to serve the agriculture community.
- Regular efforts are made to explore public private partnership in improving efficient
transfer of technologies.
